Background

"Woamy", a spinout from Aalto University, was conceived from the insights gained during the Foamwood research project. This groundbreaking endeavour led to the creation of our unique patented biofoam technology, which mimics the directional strength of wood. The outcome is a high-quality solid foam, exceptional in its strength and remarkable for its lightweight nature.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to drive our mission and create meaningful impact.

The role

As Business Development Manager, you will be at the heart of Woamy's growth journey and be responsible for winning and developing new customer sales in the agreed market segments. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing Sales Strategy: Play a key role in shaping and executing Woamy's sales approach to achieve ambitious growth targets through the acquisition of new customers.
  • Strategic Support: Provide strategic insights and support the CCO on strategic decisions.
  • PoC Projects and Pilots: Oversee the execution and commercialization of proof-of-concept projects and pilots with short-term customers, ensuring smooth delivery and high customer satisfaction.
  • Nordic Sales Leadership: Lead sales initiatives and nurture customer relationships in the Nordic region, developing strong connections with customers and partners.
  • Closing Deals: Drive negotiations and close impactful sales deals with Nordic customers, contributing directly to Woamy's revenue goals.
  • Customer Progress Tracking: Collaborate with the CCO to monitor customer development, collect valuable data, and refine strategies.
  • Market Mapping: Identify and assess new business opportunities, proving their market potential through research and pilot projects.
  • Network Building: Map and establish connections with product converters, suppliers, and other relevant actors in the supply chain to serve end-customers effectively.
  • Market Analysis: Stay ahead of trends and shifts in the industry, offering actionable insights to keep Woamy competitive.
  • Brand ambassador: Champion Woamy's brand and products, amplifying awareness across key markets through networking and promotional activities.

Main tasks

  • Support the CCO.
  • Source, approach, and close new customer sales.
  • Analyse customers, markets, and segment potential to align with Woamy's strategy.
  • Identify value propositions and unique selling points for selected new market entries.
  • Lead PoC projects and drive their commercialization.
  • Define pricing tactics and execute sales deals to support company KPIs.
  • Collect and share details of customer forecasts and market trends in the Nordics.
  • Actively nurture customer relationships and process leads in the Nordic region.
  • Actively participate in networking functions to promote the company and its products.

Key Requirements

Remuneration / Package

Up to €60,000, potential for sales commissions, plus potential longer-term incentive plan (shares) alongside local insurances.
