Summary

This is an exciting role for a proven team player who wants to join a dynamic, professional and respected Licensing Team aspiring to grow the licensing business of the company. The role will influence the licensing industry and environment positively with its long-term licensing thought leadership role. This position will report to VP, Licensing, CE/IoT/Auto and focus primarily on coordinating, developing and executing on holistic business and licensing strategies with customers in the consumer electronics ("CE") and Internet of Things ("IoT") segments, delivering licensing revenue around the globe for a broad set of SEPs and implementation patents relating to wireless, video and other technologies. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with the relevant industries and issues relevant to licensing SEPs and implementation patents and has demonstrated effectiveness as the lead negotiator of cross-border IP licensing deals, preferably with a proven track record within the CE and/or IoT fields. The candidate will have experience in interfacing with research and development teams contributing innovations to open standards and driving adoption of such technologies. The candidate will work together with a matrixed team of other functions including but not limited to, legal, infringement analysis, litigation, and finance to:
  • Formulate holistic business and go to market strategies for potential customers in the CE and IoT areas and lead and/or participate with other Licensing Team members in the execution of such plans by negotiation of patent license agreements. This will include, without limitation:
    • Prepare licensing strategies, financial models and presentations.
    • Negotiate with potential licensees.
    • Work closely and collaboratively with the Legal Team to review, draft and provide input into agreements reached in the course of such negotiations.
    • Participate in the identification of patents to be asserted, potential infringers and appropriate approach and priority of action.
    • Provide feedback and guidance on opportunities to continuously evaluate and improve related business processes and licensing/legal templates.
    Required Skills And Qualifications
    • 15+ years of relevant licensing experience, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of intellectual property transactions, with emphasis in patent license agreements.
    • Exceptional academic credentials – A business, technical or legal degree is preferred.
    • Experience with matters related to intellectual property rights (IPR) and licensing and related business models, and in particular licensing Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), preferably in CE and/or IoT areas.
    • Additional experience in the following is beneficial and desired: intellectual property litigation and arbitrations.
    • Attention to detail with ability to understand the big picture and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure is required.
    • Existing contact network in the licensing and CE and/or IoT industry will be an advantage.
    • Executive presence and influence capability, and excellent interpersonal skills; must work well in fast-paced, highly collaborative, team environment.
    • Excellent business judgment, ability to think strategically and give practical advice.
    • Excellent oral and written English communication skills; fluency in additional languages preferred.
    Location: One of InterDigital´s existing locations in Europe is preferred, open to US locations. This position will entail frequent travel to InterDigital's customer base in Asia, Europe and the United States.
