OUR ROLE

Join Fiskars as a Lead Design Engineer and play a pivotal role in creating innovative, cutting-edge consumer products that elevate our product offerings, push the boundaries of design and technology and meet the evolving needs of our consumers, customers and business. In this dynamic role, you will lead and oversee projects for Fiskars range of products, from concept to production with a talented team of engineers and designers, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and embody the quality our brands are known for.

This position is based either in Espoo or Billnäs factory, Finland and reports to our Senior Director, R&D. The role is full-time and is hybrid.

WHAT YOU'LL DO AT FISKARS

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the R&D team in New Product Development projects and deliver innovative solutions to consumer needs.
  • Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to validation and mass production, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, supply chain, brand & marketing and product management, to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, simulations and prototyping to validate design concepts and performance.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing units to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and certification requirements (UL, CE, IEC, etc.).
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in electronics, batteries and embedded systems to drive innovation within the organization.
WHO YOU ARE

Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master´s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware and electronics design and product development, previous experience in consumer products is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems and battery technologies.
  • Experience with regulatory standards (UL, CE, IEC, etc.) and certification processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading R&D projects.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for innovation, with a hands-on approach to prototyping and testing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment.
