About the Role

The Head of Procurement, Solar PV will lead the solar PV procurement team, responsible for the procurement of all equipment, including panels, converters, trackers, and services needed for the construction of a solar PV plant. This involves setting up multiple contracting arrangements and bundling packages while working with EPC contractors. The role requires handling main negotiations with suppliers and contractors, collaborating with internal teams, and deciding on strategies, negotiations, commercial topics, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, including cost-efficient bundling of projects.
  • Negotiate and finalize all contracts, including services and insurance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and legal teams to manage procurement and mitigate risks.
  • Align with stakeholders on procurement needs and deliverables.
  • Evaluate suppliers, conduct ESG compliance checks, and perform risk analyses.
  • Identify process improvements to optimize costs and schedules.

Phase-Specific Responsibilities

Realization Phase:
  • Provide budget assumptions and technical input during project realization.

Development Phase:
  • Support project development by providing budget assumptions and technical input.

Construction Phase:
  • Support construction management, addressing claims and legal issues.
  • Manage insurance claims and capture lessons learned for future projects.

Operational Phase:
  • Support defect liability management and capture insights for contract improvements.
  • Update pricing and cost databases.

Non-Project Procurement Responsibilities:
  • Evolve procurement processes and contract templates to increase efficiency.
  • Maintain supplier relationships, evaluate new suppliers, and conduct market intelligence.
  • Monitor supplier quality and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cost database.

Requirements
  • Expertise and 5-10 years of experience in the solar PV industry.
  • A strong network within main players and contractors in Solar PV in the European field.
  • Experience managing a procurement department.
  • Contract negotiation and management skills.
  • Familiarity with various construction and supply contracts (e.g., FIDIC, ABA). Knowledge of procuring Construction Works of Civil, Electrical Works, and solar PV.
  • Understanding of claim management.
