The University of Oulu is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on transdisciplinary approaches to ecosystem restoration as part of the SAFIRE research capacity building programme.
About the RoleThis 4-year fixed-term position offers a unique opportunity to work on a multidisciplinary project focused on developing new knowledge and solutions in ecosystem restoration.
You will be working closely with Associate Professor Anna Krzywoszynska, the vice-lead of the SAFIRE program, and will be responsible for designing and delivering a research project on transdisciplinary approaches to ecosystem restoration using SAFIRE and potentially other projects as a case study/participatory action research partner.
Your main tasks will include:

- Designing and delivering a program of actions to establish meaningful collaboration between the SAFIRE team and ecosystem restoration actors in Finland and the wider Arctic.
- Producing new scientific knowledge on theoretical/conceptual and methodological approaches to transdisciplinary research on ecosystem restoration, with the SAFIRE program as a case study.
- Conducting participatory action research to develop practical solutions to ecosystem restoration challenges.
- Engaging with stakeholders and partners to co-produce knowledge and solutions.
- Promoting the integration of SAFIRE's approach within the strategy of the faculties and the University of Oulu.
