Job Description

Hitachi Energy Ltd's Supply Chain function is committed to strengthening its drive in the area of supplier and material sustainability to contribute to the company's sustainability vision.

The Supply Chain Sustainability strategy consists of three pillars: Supplier Sustainability, Material Sustainability, and Material Compliance.

In this role, you will be responsible for taking end-to-end ownership of the Material Sustainability management pillar (from process definition to implementation and monitoring/reporting for the entire organization). You will work closely with the Sustainability Head and Global/Regional Category managers.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Create a comprehensive SCM Material sustainability processes roadmap for the organization.
  2. Contribute to the development of the overall Supply Chain Sustainability strategy.
  3. Establish a standardized process flow for material sustainability requirements (e.g., CBAM: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, LCA mapping: Supplier Life Cycle Assessment data mapping).
  4. Clarify the roles and responsibilities within the organization for related functions and regions.
  5. In alignment with the Sustainability Head and Marketing & Sales, define annual targets for regional SCMs, KPI definitions, monitor progress, and provide regular reporting.
  6. Identify opportunities to improve major suppliers' material sustainability, drive decarbonization within the supply chain, increase transparency of LCA data, and create business cases in collaboration with Category managers and Marketing & Sales.
  7. Respond to customer requests for specific tenders and coordinate related data collection from key suppliers.
  8. Develop and organize LCA, CBAM basics training for the SCM community and establish best practices among categories.
  9. Guide strategic suppliers (as per their need) towards emission zero goals in collaboration with Global Category managers.
  10. In collaboration with the Hitachi Energy SCM team, monitor upcoming sustainability requirements from customers as well as major legislations and provide clarity of the requirements to the SCM teams.
Your Background
  1. More than 10 years of experience in an equivalent industry.
  2. Experience with LCA and/or EPD development.
  3. Previous leadership experience in strategy/roadmap creation in supply base management and/or in Sustainability.
  4. In-depth and successful experience of implementing global sustainability programs in large, international organizations, preferably with a focus on Materials and Supplier Sustainability (e.g., Life Cycle Assessments, Carbon zero programs, or green material introduction projects with suppliers).
  5. Understanding of materials sustainability-related standards such as: ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14021/14025, EN 15804 / EN 50693, ISO 14067, Greenhouse Gas Protocol - Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard.
  6. Understanding and previous experience with supplier sustainability legislations (German Supply Chain Act, 3rd party sustainability assessment platforms such as Ecovadis) is an advantage.
  7. Customer focus with ability to build effective working relationships and ability to inspire others.
  8. Leader with strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills in global industrial organizations.
  9. Knowledge of SAP Ariba, SAP4 Hana is a plus.
  10. Advanced in MS Office tools utilization (Excel & PowerPoint).
  11. Fluent in English, oral and written.
