Research Scientist in Membrane Separation

We are seeking a highly motivated and research-oriented Doctoral Researcher to join our team in Environmental and Chemical Engineering at the University of Oulu, Finland.
The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative research effort focused on developing innovative, energy-efficient membranes inspired by nature for blue energy harvesting.
The research team aims to enhance filtration efficiency, reduce fouling, extend membrane shelf life, and achieve commercial viability through high power density membranes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research work within a research team to develop and test new membranes
- Publish research results in esteemed international fora
- Attend doctoral courses and complete a doctoral thesis within 3-4 years
- Master's degree in chemical engineering or a related field
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Knowledge in membrane separation processes, organic/inorganic chemistry, and material science
- Understanding of biomimetics fundamentals is advantageous
- Characterization of membrane and measurement techniques
- Prior experience in membrane synthesis, modification, and applications
- Strong motivation, work efficiency, and critical thinking skills for research in academia
- Capability to write scientific publications based on research results
