We founded Holvi in 2011, in Helsinki. As self-employed people wading through oceans of paperwork, we noticed something funny going on – traditional banks were giving us the cold shoulder. Why not help ourselves? We asked. And so, with time and effort (and lots of coffee), we mastered small business finance – and Holvi was born.

Our vision is simple: Eliminate the distractions of financial admin and simplify work life, because running a business is hard enough. Small businesses shouldn't have to worry about spreadsheets and lost receipts.

Since our inception as a pioneering fintech, we've experienced our fair share of challenges and growth. We explored different paths, and from those experiences, we've evolved. Today, we stand as a team-owned and profitable company, proud of our journey.

Right now, we're looking for a Risk Manager to join our team in Helsinki. If you want to help us make self-employment a little easier, Holvi is for you.

You live by the motto of "Ships are safer in the harbour, but that's not what they were built for". You first think about the business because you know that if the business doesn't work, soon there will be nothing to protect. As a Risk Manager at Holvi, it's all about managing the balancing act of enabling the teams to build excellent services for our customers while ensuring top-notch adherence to the regulatory obligations of a financial institution. You will be part of the Risk & Compliance department.

A typical day could see you:

  1. Identifying, assessing, and documenting risks related to internal processes, third parties, and organisational objectives.
  2. Monitoring key risk indicators (KRIs) and preparing regular reports for senior management to track and highlight changes in the risk profile.
  3. Maintaining and updating risk registers, risk management policies and related documentation to ensure accurate and up-to-date risk records.
  4. Assisting in testing internal controls, investigating risk incidents, and conducting root cause analysis to mitigate risks effectively.
  5. Promoting a risk-aware culture through collaboration, training, and regular awareness sessions across the organisation.
  6. Partnering with operations and business teams to identify risks in projects, new products, processes and changes.

This is for you if you:

  1. Have a basic understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  2. Have an entrepreneurial mindset and are a good team player.
  3. Possess strong communication skills and emotional intelligence to navigate with ease in an organisation that embraces cultural diversity and distant work as much as office work.
  4. Are highly organized and adaptable, excelling in remote work setups with effective time management, also in more stressful phases.
  5. Are results-driven, proactive and highly accountable with the ability to work independently and deliver tangible outcomes.
  6. Are a strong communicator and team player, skilled in building relationships and collaborating in international environments.
  7. Are fluent in English, both spoken and written; German or Finnish as a second language are also appreciated.

It's a plus if you:

  1. Have relevant experience in risk management, internal audit, or related consulting roles, with practical knowledge of risk management standards and frameworks.
  2. Have worked in a payment institution and/or an investment firm before.

Logistics

  1. This is a permanent full-time position in our Risk & Compliance department.
  2. You'll be headquartered in our sleek new office in Helsinki; we are working in an office/remote hybrid setup, with two office days per week expected.
