We are looking for an analytical and development-oriented

Sustainability Specialist

In this role, you will develop and support Marimekko's environmental impact measurement and reporting, including the calculation of the company's environmental KPIs and carbon footprint. You will also assist Marimekko's various functions in their environmental impact reduction initiatives, particularly focusing on greenhouse gas emission reduction. In addition, you will actively manage and develop Marimekko's sustainability agenda and support in the implementation of our sustainability strategy. You will collaborate across teams to manage our cross-functional sustainability journey and related internal processes. You will work as a team with our sustainability managers as well as communication experts. You will also work closely especially with Marimekko's supply chain organization, for example logistics, product development and the printing mill team.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position (parental leave cover), starting as soon as possible until 10th of April 2026. In this role you will report to Marimekko´s Head of Sustainability. The role will ideally be based at the Marimekko HQ in Helsinki, but Stockholm and Copenhagen can be considered, if the person has a solid industry background.

Main responsibilities:

  • Execute Marimekko's environmental impact assessment and calculation, e.g.
    • Annual greenhouse gas calculation together with external support
    • Regular calculation of Marimekko's environmental KPIs
  • Execute and develop Marimekko's environmental reporting:
    • Annual environmental reporting related to climate, water and biodiversity
    • Annual environmental questionnaire to suppliers and analyze results
  • Coordinate the implementation and updates of Marimekko's climate transition plan. Support different teams in building their own roadmaps and executing emission reduction initiatives.
  • Provide insight and sparring on environmental impacts and sustainability work for Marimekko's own printing mill and other teams, as necessary
  • Provide insight on environmental impacts in supplier evaluation/auditing, as necessary
  • Follow-up of environmental regulations to ensure compliance
  • Support in sustainability questionnaires related to climate and environment, e.g. CDP questionnaire

Contribute to Marimekko sustainability strategy work and strategy development

In order to succeed in the role, you have:

  • A relevant master's degree – for example in the field of natural sciences or engineering
  • At least 2 years' work experience in the field of sustainability, especially environment
  • Previous experience and knowledge of greenhouse gas calculation and climate change
  • Expertise in water or biodiversity as well as industry knowledge (especially related to textiles) is seen as an advantage
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills (incl. Excel) with ability to present data and insights effectively
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Ability to make things happen in good spirit by inspiring and getting everyone on board
