Do you want to become an expert in technically demanding high-tech rotating machinery?
We are looking for a Roll Technology Development Engineer for product development of rolls for board and paper machines.Deflection compensated rolls, suction rolls, dryer cylinders, heavy nip rolls and various types of lead rolls are key components of board and paper machines. They can be simple-looking rotors or complex mechanisms with internal vacuum or overpressure or equipped with hydrostatic loading systems. But in common, all rolls require a very high level of manufacturing precision.In this role, you will be involved in product development projects as an expert or as a R&D project manager. Additionally you support delivery projects in manufacturing, commissioning and problem solving cases as required.The role will involve product development, testing of ideas by simulation or experimentation and reporting of results. Providing technical support to sales, engineering, procurement and manufacturing will be part of your job. In your daily work, you will identify development needs and initiate new development project proposals.To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Interest in engineering calculations with both analytical formulas and FEM.
  • Experience with 3D design software (especially Catia V6).
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Experience in engineering and development.
  • Proficiency in  English and Finnish. Other languages are an asset.
  • Ability to learn and willingness to develop yourself professionally.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills .
  • Good communication skills.
  • High level of commitment and proactive approach.
  • Ability to travel.
