Postdoctoral Research Associate in Transdisciplinary Approaches to Ecosystem Restoration

This fixed-term position combines research and project support duties within the SAFIRE programme, focusing on safeguarding biodiversity through interdisciplinary research on habitat restoration. The role is ideal for those interested in transdisciplinary research and its applications in ecosystem restoration.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Fostering meaningful collaboration between the SAFIRE team and ecosystem restoration actors in Finland and the wider Arctic through the design and delivery of a programme of actions.
  • Generating new scientific knowledge on theoretical/conceptual and methodological approaches to transdisciplinary research on ecosystem restoration, with the SAFIRE programme as a case study.
About the Job:

Primary responsibilities include designing and delivering a research project on transdisciplinary approaches to ecosystem restoration using the SAFIRE programme and potentially other projects as case studies/participatory action research partners. You will also be responsible for producing academic and non-academic outputs on transdisciplinarity in collaboration with Associate Professor Anna Krzywoszynska and other members of the SAFIRE team.

Requirements:
  • A doctoral degree from a social sciences, geography, humanities, or interdisciplinary higher education programme obtained no more than ten years ago.
  • Experience of administrative tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
