We are seeking aResearch Assistant - M.Sc. Thesis vacancy: A Risk Governance Analysis of the Finnish Maritime Transport System

This project focuses on analyzing the current transition of the Finnish maritime cluster to determine an effective risk governance structure that addresses industry challenges. The thesis will be developed in collaboration with critical stakeholders for risk governance and safety assurance in Finland, aligning with EU initiatives.

Your Role and Objectives

The successful candidate will focus on studying safety science, particularly risk governance and safety management, with a focus on the analysis of the Finnish maritime cluster and its connection to EU maritime developments and plans.

Your Network and Team

The thesis will be developed within the Research Group on Safe and Efficient Marine and Ship Systems (SEMSS) at Aalto Marine and Arctic Technology (Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering). Collaboration with Finnish Maritime Authorities and Maritime Safety Responsibles is expected.

Your Experience and Ambitions

The work involves risk governance, safety management, system modeling, and systems engineering. Candidates with a background in maritime safety, marine technology, and safety engineering are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in the Finnish language is considered a significant asset.
