Our Research Group

The Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering's Research Group on Safe and Efficient Marine and Ship Systems (SEMSS) is seeking a highly motivated researcher to collaborate with us on a critical project. We are looking for someone to assist in conducting a detailed analysis of the Finnish maritime cluster to develop a risk governance structure that addresses current industry challenges.

This project is aligned with EU initiatives, and you will work closely with stakeholders to understand the critical elements/components/parties of risk governance and safety assurance in the Finnish maritime cluster. The outcome of this thesis will contribute to the development of a model supporting the understanding of these critical components.

  • Your Role: Assist in the study of safety science, particularly risk governance and safety management, focusing on the analysis of the Finnish maritime cluster and its connection to EU maritime developments.
  • Collaboration: Work within the SEMSS research group, collaborating with Finnish Maritime Authorities and Maritime Safety Responsibles to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
