About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Engineer, W32 to join our Power Supply team at Wärtsilä Corporation. As a key member of our Product Management and Sales Support business function, you will play a crucial part in supporting our Product Cost down initiatives and ensuring the cost competitiveness of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product and technical management to improve the product cost structure and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Take ownership of product design change cost analysis, product cost down roadmap, product material (change) roadmap, product cost benchmarking reports, and data reliability of product data.
  • Lead the Product Line cross-functional team meeting to monitor and coordinate cost down activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the cost gate model for new design introduction.
  • Monitor product cost development against business case and product cost target.
  • Maintain the basic product concept and participate in the development of the product cost model.
  • Update product price lists (including options) according to MP Product costing directive.
  • Provide support for pricing of new products and special applications.
  • Verify BOM correctness (including new releases) and make or buy variations.
  • Conduct monthly product cost analysis.
  • Review and approve rolling forecast data for own products.
  • Assess product cost reporting and suggest improvements to processes or tools.
  • Review cost calculations and estimate margins for new and ongoing projects.
  • Prepare material for Product Portfolio Management Forums.
Requirements
  • Relevant academic background.
  • Understanding of product and technical requirements related to cost, product competitiveness, and value proposition.
  • Solid fact-based decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Proactive and positive attitude.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional setting and managing stakeholder requirements.
  • Track record from similar positions is considered an advantage.
