The team you'll be part of

You will be joining the Visual AI Systems Research team to build the next generation of AI-enabled multimedia systems and tools. The team performs as part of the multimedia unit, which has been at the forefront of audio and video research and standardization for decades. You will play a significant role in the development of future multimedia technologies.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As part of our team, you will:

  • Contribute to the research and development of AI-based multimedia tools.
  • Design and develop algorithms to improve neural video coding tools.
  • Act as a delegate to multimedia standardization forums and represent Nokia.
  • Publish your research in conferences and journals.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Your skills and experience:

  • A PhD degree in machine learning, computer science, signal processing, electrical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of industrial work experience after completion of PhD in a relevant domain or equivalent overall industrial exposure and experience that matches a PhD and work experience.
  • Strong mathematical and algorithmic design skills, solid understanding of machine learning, specifically deep neural networks.
  • Excellent programming skills including Python and C/C++, combined with knowledge of at least one machine learning framework like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Background in standardization and innovation.
  • Knowledge of neural-based data compression.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Knowledge of video codecs like H.264 and H.265.
  • Strong information theory and coding background.
  • Understanding of MLOps and knowledge of utilizing such practices.
  • Knowledge of using GPU and CPU computing resources.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Publication in top-tier conferences and journals like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICML, PAMI, IJCV, and alike.
