In partnership with an industry leader and dedicated Data Centre delivery partner providing turnkey solutions to their Large Technology Clients, delivering throughout Europe. They are currently employing over 750 professionals and counting.

They specialise in providing turnkey Data Centre solutions, providing services from Design, through to Construction across the full range of Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Services as well as Commissioning.

In Finland, they are the Turnkey General Contractor for the Construction, Fit-Out, Commissioning and Handover of a 48MW Data Centre in Espoo.

We are pleased to announce that our client is currently seeking an Environmental Manager to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Draft or review the Project Construction Environmental Management Plan and work with the Site Manager to integrate the requirements effectively in conjunction with the client's requirements and their wider corporate sustainability goals.
  • Review all construction method statements, processes and procedures to ensure they have considered all environmental risks and mitigate them appropriately.
  • Provide toolbox talks to make site staff aware of Environmental best practice onsite behaviours.
  • Provide training to site staff regarding Environmental and social sensitivities issues including what to do in the event of a public approach.
  • Identify and implement spill kit provision and training requirements.
  • Perform (alongside H&S and Site Manager) emergency practice scenarios, identify weaknesses in any existing approach and improvement plans.
  • Ensure that all drains and potential entry points to watercourses are protected. Assess that all onsite discharges to watercourses should run clean water only and take mitigating actions if required.
  • Liaise with the H&S site officer to ensure any cross over risks are addressed appropriately.
  • Work closely with site management on the projects environmental objectives.
  • Represent WTL for Client Environmental inspections and meetings and ensure reporting on close outs for any findings.
  • Provide a presence on site to oversee medium to high risk tasks and operations.
  • Perform site walkovers with the Site Manager and provide a written list of findings, agree actions to address non-conformities (NC) issues with realistic dates reflecting the risk of the NC.
  • Provide monthly Environmental progress reports on incidents, resolutions or interventions.
  • Perform incident investigations and track close outs for any environmental non-compliance.
  • Monitor, record and report on Project Waste Management. Including the promotion and awareness around waste streams and waste minimisation.
  • Perform Audit checks of permits as well as managing the existing site based complaints system.
  • Promote best practice and progressive Environmental Management and provide information on 'lessons learned' and incidents feedback.
  • Provide assistance to the Site Manager and be involved in all appropriate client meetings and the project decision making processes.
  • Will be required to stop works where bad practice or management is identified.
  • Read all Environmental permits and identify any gaps in site documents/approach.
  • Ensure site noticeboards and key information points along the site hoarding contain sufficient levels of Environmental information for site staff and the general public.
  • Liaise with Client LEED practitioner, coordinate collection of documentary evidence and site inspections to achieve targeted LEED Gold certification of the project.
  • Build a strong Environmental culture on the project and drive environmental initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Environmentalist
  • 7 years' Environmental Engineering / Management experience within the Construction or Engineering or similar sector.
  • Additional Benefits: You will be working on a 3-week rotational basis (17/4 Rotational Roster with flights covered. e.g., Monday to Saturday for two weeks & then Monday to Wednesday) with additional benefits covering: all accommodation covered (solo accommodation/own apartment, fully furnished with all utility bills paid inc. Wi-Fi), all flight and travel expenses covered, an additional €250 weekly living allowance (net) paid directly into your bank on top of your salary, a mass of internal progression and opportunity and the ability to visit, see and work in some of the most attractive places across Europe.
