Type: Full-time / Fixed-term (Internship, 6 months)

Location: Porkkalankatu 24, Helsinki

Application DL: 27.4.2025

Are you ready to kickstart your career in the mobile game industry with Metacore's Press Play trainee program? Apply now and join the central tools team and help ensure world-class quality for games played by millions.

Metacore, a mobile game company based in both Helsinki and Berlin, is creating world-class entertainment by building a portfolio of hit games. Applications are now open for the Press Play trainee program, and we are offering two aspiring Tools Programmers the chance to help shape hit mobile games.

Responsibilities

As a Tools Programmer, you will learn and develop modern and effective ways to support game development with the guidance of experienced mentors. You'll gain hands-on experience in tools programming and design, along with plenty of knowledge on how to make our game teams more productive.

In practice, this means (at least) the following:

  1. Learning and applying programming best practices and development tools commonly used in game development
  2. Designing and implementing in-house tools and pipelines
  3. Taking part in code reviews and providing constructive feedback
  4. Following industry trends and staying up-to-date on the emerging technologies
What we're looking for

Metacore welcomes individuals with a willingness to learn and a passion for developing modern ways to create games. Here are some of the key skills and experience you should already have when joining Metacore as a Tools Programmer:

  1. Basic understanding of programming concepts such as data structures and algorithms
  2. Familiarity with programming languages such as Rust, C#, Typescript, Python, and Go
  3. Basic understanding of frontend and/or backend development
  4. Genuine interest in tech, especially in context of mobile games and a desire to pursue a career in full stack development
  5. Knack for solving problems, and doing it with a service-minded attitude and a collaborative communication style
  6. Eagerness to learn, and adapt to new technologies and methods
  7. Proficiency in English, as it is our company language
  8. Ability to work in Finland, mainly onsite from our Helsinki office

In addition, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have some of these as well:

  1. Prior experience with game engines such as Unity, Godot or Unreal, for example, through school or hobby projects
What you can expect from Metacore

Press Play by Metacore is for emerging talent who are eager to enter the mobile game industry.

The program starts in September and offers you a 6 months full-time trainee position as part of Metacore's central tools team. You'll work onsite from our Helsinki office alongside experienced colleagues who are eager to share their knowledge and also learn from you.

It's a great opportunity to start your career in mobile games, and grow professionally. You'll be employed directly by Metacore.

With continuous support from your mentors and team throughout the training period, you'll gain valuable insight and practical skills. The position includes a monthly salary, as well as benefits such as lunch, commuting allowances, sports, wellbeing and culture perks on top.
