The Role

Next Games, a Netflix Game Studio, is a Helsinki-based studio dedicated to crafting fans-first interactive experiences that combine the stories from popular movies and shows with engaging game mechanics. As a Senior Game Programmer, you are a crucial contributor to one of our new game initiatives. As an expert in game engineering, you deliver complex game features with high quality, extendable, and stable code. You'll work from our Helsinki office or your Helsinki home, with a team that has a hybrid way of working.

The ideal engineer for this role highly values seeing a project through from the start of development into release, and onward through live development. They are driven to improve processes in the team, are reactive to the concerns of players and stakeholders across the organization, and are able to balance innovation risks and opportunities against release schedules and an ambitious project scope.

Responsibilities:
  1. Build gameplay features and systems, with a focus on UI-centric gaming experiences
  2. Fix issues and maintain the quality of the codebase
  3. Take ownership over features and tasks
  4. Provide input on technical matters
  5. Collaborate with other stakeholders on game ideas, design, game play, and features
  6. Resolve performance and stability issues
  7. Create and maintain relevant technical documentation
Skills and Experience:
  1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering
  2. Experience in web front end development
  3. Understanding of mobile software platforms (iOS, Android)
  4. Experience in professional, team-based software development with shipped product(s) and having worked on a live product
  5. Strong knowledge of TypeScript
  6. Proactive, self-starter mentality and a can-do attitude
  7. Good communication skills and proficiency in English
