Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology and leading the industry's transformation towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. With the world's widest portfolio and service network, we – Wärtsilians - deliver efficient, safe, and sustainable integrated products and solutions to enhance the business of our customers. We want to change the course towards an interconnected and cleaner maritime future and are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and to work towards enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services - together. Are you ready to jump on board?

The Marine Agreements Field Service Resources team oversees field service resourcing for two extensive maintenance agreements with Marine customers, managing all engine maintenance and monitoring, both scheduled and unscheduled. We are responsible for safely extending overhaul intervals whenever possible, thanks to our close monitoring of the ship's engines. We have a passion for doing things right, and our customers appreciate the world-class service we provide.

We are now looking for dynamic and safety-oriented Mechanical Service Engineers to join our skilled team. We welcome applicants at various levels of seniority, as we offer positions for Service Engineers, Senior Service Engineers, and Superintendent Engineers.

The roles are offered as permanent contracts and can be based in any Wärtsilä location in Finland, Poland, Italy, or the UK.

Thus, we hope that you are eager to travel and possess a strong field service mindset. When not traveling, you will have the flexibility to work remotely in accordance with our hybrid work model.

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing field service activities on Wärtsilä marine diesel engines according to the work plan and contractual obligations.
  • Conducting contract-specified overhauls and maintenance with the customer Riding Team.
  • Coordinating, delegating and executing on-site RT tasks.
  • Interacting professionally with customers throughout work execution, delivering solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Providing internal and external progress updates on assigned work.
  • Following up and reporting on the status of work orders to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Creating Service Work reports.
  • Adhering to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines, regulations, site procedures, and policies.

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:
  • Relevant technical education or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with medium-speed 4-stroke marine diesel engine operations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary systems.
  • Highly effective technical communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt when faced with challenges.
  • Safety-first attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient English language skills, both spoken and written.
  • Drive for the common goal of providing our customers with the best possible service experience.

You will be at an advantage with:
  • Experience with Wärtsilä engines, such as the Wärtsilä 32, 38 A, 38 B, 46, 46F, 46 Common Rail, 46 TSDF, or Sulzer ZA40S.
  • Knowledge of ABB and Napier turbochargers.
  • Experience working with electrical systems.
  • A US B1/B2 visa.

Why you & us?

In the Marine Agreements Field Service Resources team, you will be part of a global, innovative, and customer-driven organisation, working with cutting-edge technologies. You will travel regularly, seeing the world while collaborating with world-leading experts. We offer the best training in the industry, providing you with a professional advantage and enabling career growth.
