About Huawei Finland R&D
With 28 sites across Europe and over 2000 researchers, Huawei's European Research Institute (ERI) oversees fundamental and applied technology research, academic research cooperation projects, and strategic technical planning across our network of European R&D facilities. As a Senior Algorithm Engineer, you'll work with a diverse range of data, including physiology, human motion, biomechanics, cardiovascular, metabolic, etc. Our advanced facility is equipped with cutting-edge tools like wearable sensors, indirect calorimetry systems, electrocardiograms, and respiratory gas analyzers, enabling precise monitoring of physiological and biomechanical responses during exercise and other activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop cutting-edge algorithms: Create and implement sophisticated algorithms and models to achieve industry-leading accuracy, efficiency, and performance for Huawei's wearable and health product lines, driving innovation in health monitoring and fitness tracking.
- Validate product performance: Conduct rigorous validation of algorithms and systems to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and user-friendliness of Huawei Sports and Health products, applying best practices in real-time data processing and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary experts: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including professionals in physiology, biomechanics, sensor technology, and data science, to drive the strategic development of advanced algorithms, shaping the roadmap for Huawei Health products and ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
- Explore and assess emerging technologies: Investigate cutting-edge technologies and assess their feasibility in the context of Huawei's product lines. Spearhead and coordinate research projects that strengthen Huawei's leadership in the wearable and health technology sectors, keeping the company at the forefront of innovation.
- Optimize algorithms for scalability and performance: Enhance algorithmic designs to improve their adaptability, scalability, and integration with Huawei's ecosystem of wearable devices, ensuring seamless performance in diverse environments and use cases.
Skill Requirements:
- Background in biomechanics, data science, applied mathematics, or related fields preferred: Experience in designing wearables algorithms utilizing inertial sensors in biomechanics domain is highly valued.
- In-depth Expertise in Human Motion Analysis: Extensive knowledge in interpreting biomechanical data across diverse sports, proficient in OpenSim full-body modeling, and skilled in applying advanced wearable inertial sensors for comprehensive motion analysis.
- Experience with algorithm development for wearable devices: Proficiency in designing and optimizing algorithms for real-time data processing in wearable technology, particularly in areas like motion tracking, energy expenditure, and personalized fitness coaching.
- Passion for fitness and wearable technologies: Enthusiastic about the potential of mobile and wearable devices to revolutionize personalized and preventive health solutions. A genuine interest in fitness training, digital health, and wellness is essential.
- Proficiency in machine learning and data analysis: Strong experience with data analysis techniques, machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and familiarity with AI applications in health and sports science, enabling predictive and personalized health solutions.
- Fluent in English (required): Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong skills in communication, documentation, and project management: Ability to collaborate across teams, document processes effectively, and manage projects with attention to detail. Experience working in cross-functional teams with engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders is key.
- Creative and innovative thinker: Proven ability to develop novel ideas and solutions, pushing beyond conventional approaches to create state-of-the-art technologies. A passion for innovation and an eagerness to explore new opportunities in the wearable and health tech space.
- Problem-solving mindset and technical acumen: Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges in algorithm development and product implementation.
