JOB TITLE: CUSTODIAN

REPORTS TO: LEAD CUSTODIAN SERVICE WORKER

SALARY SCHEDULE: CLASSIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE C1

CLASS CODE: 7609

Provides efficient, quality cleaning (housekeeping) tasks for office and office buildings following established practices, standards and methods under the direction of the supervisor.

1. Cleans offices, classrooms, restrooms, corridors, windows, walls, media centers, auditoriums and athletic facilities as required by assignment.
2. Operates electric sweepers, floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, other small mechanical equipment, etc.
3. Follows usage instructions/dilution ratios of cleaning chemicals and other custodial products.

Surveys grounds, walks, etc. and removes trash and debris as necessary.

1. Cooperates and works closely with lead custodian (where assigned).
2. Performs all work in accordance with established standards, methods and practices.

Duties may be split among different district facilities and require transportation.

Follows all industry, national, state and local safety guidelines, rules and regulations.

Notifies supervisors of unsafe conditions for self, students, or other staff.

1. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
2. Ability to perform basic commercial cleaning (housekeeping) tasks in schools and office buildings
3. Ability to use/operate commercial cleaning equipment 

The work is performed while standing or walking. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping, pushing and pulling of arm controls and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights. The work requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
