Espoo, Uusimaa, Finland Moderna Full time

The Role

Joining Moderna offers the unique opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that's revolutionizing medicine through mRNA technology, with a diverse pipeline of development programs across various diseases.

As an employee, you'll be part of a continually growing organization, working alongside exceptional colleagues and strategic partners worldwide, contributing to global health initiatives.

Moderna's commitment to advancing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding career experience, with the potential to make a significant impact on patients' lives worldwide.

Moderna is solidifying its presence within our international business services hub in Warsaw, Poland, a city renowned for its rich scientific and technological heritage. This hub provides critical functions, meeting the growing demand of Moderna's global business operations. We're inviting professionals from around the world to join our mission and contribute to the future of mRNA medicines.

As a ServiceNow Developer, you'll become a key contributor to the technical backbone of Moderna's digital operations. This individual contributor role will embed you at the heart of our Warsaw-based digital services team, delivering cross-functional platform solutions that optimize enterprise workflows and drive automation at scale. With deep technical ownership, you'll evolve our ServiceNow ecosystem—supporting ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, ITAM, and more—while shaping the platform's future and building next-gen digital experiences for employees. You'll work hands-on to unlock the platform's full potential, implementing scalable solutions and delivering rapid innovation across global business functions. If you're energized by working across teams, applying modern dev practices, and accelerating business transformation with platform thinking, this role is designed for you.

Here's What You'll Do

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Be a central player in our ServiceNow development team—designing, authoring, and maintaining end-to-end platform capabilities and documenting trade-offs through design docs and RFCs.

  • Develop core configurations and customizations for modules including ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, HRSD, Performance Analytics, and scoped apps—ensuring architectural alignment with CSDM standards.

  • Lead integrations with enterprise systems using REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub, and MID Servers, applying best practices in authentication, security, and error handling.

  • Guide platform architecture decisions, weighing buy vs build and configuration vs customization with clear risk/effort/maintainability perspectives.

  • Serve as a platform steward for release and upgrade governance—executing platform and application upgrades, update set promotions, and managing regression testing with ATF.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Author and implement platform components such as Business Rules, UI Policies, Client Scripts, ACLs, and UI Builder elements to deliver rich user experiences.

  • Embed and enforce development standards—naming conventions, performance tuning, secure coding—across the full engineering lifecycle through code reviews and design critiques.

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos) and collaborate closely with Product Owners and the development manager to ensure transparency and alignment.

  • Partner cross-functionally across Security, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Data/Analytics teams to drive roadmap alignment, instance strategy, cost controls, and governance.

  • Champion reliability and security practices—define and monitor SLOs, drive incident response and postmortems, and build privacy/security-by-design into every solution.

The key Moderna Mindsets you'll need to succeed in the role:

  • "We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients."
As a ServiceNow Developer, this mindset fuels your drive to engineer scalable solutions across departments, ensuring we unlock the full value of the platform through smart automation and digitization of business processes.

  • "We behave like owners. The solutions we're building go beyond any job description."
You'll thrive when taking initiative, owning platform components from design to deployment, and pushing for long-term maintainability that serves Moderna's mission beyond immediate tasks. Your code becomes part of how we work, grow, and scale globally.

Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • 8+ years of professional experience, including 6+ years developing on ServiceNow across 3 or more capabilities (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, HRSD, PA, Discovery/CMDB).

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field or 5 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.

  • ServiceNow certifications: at minimum CSA plus one or more CIS (e.g., CIS‑ITSM, CIS‑ITOM, CIS‑HRSD, CIS‑Discovery/CMDB) or CAD.

  • 4+ years integrating ServiceNow with external systems using REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, and MID Servers.

  • Strong JavaScript/GlideScript skills and proficiency with HTML5, Java, AngularJS, jQuery, CSS; experience building Service Portal/Now Experience components.

  • Hands‑on with Git‑based source control, CI/CD, and Automated Test Framework (ATF) in a multi‑instance environment (dev/test/prod).

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management; proven ability to lead design discussions and drive consensus.

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Deep knowledge of ServiceNow scripting patterns (Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, Scripted REST APIs, UI Builder/Now Experience).

  • Expertise with Discovery and CMDB (MID Server architecture, probes/sensors, identification & reconciliation) and CSDM alignment.

  • Experience eliciting and translating user requirements into scalable solutions; strong documentation of technical systems and user workflows.

  • Background in life sciences/pharma/biotech or high‑tech; familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., GxP, SOX, GDPR) and validation practices.

  • Exposure to one or more adjacent domains (eCommerce, data/ML platforms, cloud infrastructure) and to platform governance, license optimization, and cost/performance tuning.

  • Thrives in a matrixed organization; Bold, Relentless, Curious, and Collaborative with a desire to make an outsized impact in a high‑growth, transformational company.
