About your role
Phase1 is Orion's paid trainee programme designed for university students, bringing together a large and diverse group of talents from various fields every year. We are looking for a university student interested in intellectual property rights for a Phase1 internship at our headquarters in Espoo.
Your key responsibilities
As an IPR Trainee, you will:
- Assist in IP enforcement, both patent and trademark portfolio management, and brand protection.
- Support drafting and reviewing IP-related documentation.
- Participate in IP internal development projects, including tools for IP management and gathering proof-of-use evidence.
- Conduct material collection and prepare presentations.
- Handle administrative and paralegal tasks in a global setting.
- Evaluation of our information channels and building new ones.
The tasks can also be adjusted based on the selected person's interests and skills, as well as the unit's needs.

Our expectations
You are curious and eager to learn new things. You enjoy working in interaction with others, taking responsibility as part of the whole. You are interested in societal issues.
In addition, we expect you to have:
- University studies in their final stages (e.g., in chemistry, life sciences, business or law)
- A self-directed, proactive, and systematic approach to work
- Good interpersonal skills
- Fluent spoken and written Finnish and English
- Strong basic IT skills

Our Phase1 trainees will be paid a monthly salary of €2370–2625, depending on the number of completed study credits. In addition, the Phase1 trainees are eligible to various employee benefits offered by the company.

Unit description
Corporate Functions contributes to the achievement of Orion's business objectives by providing expert services and specialized knowledge. We serve Orion in several ways: as providers of expertise and services needed for the business, most prominent experts in our fields of expertise, contributors to the development of processes and operations, and organizers of certain mandatory corporate functions. Our organization includes Communications, Compliance, Corporate Responsibility, Intellectual Property Rights, Legal Affairs, Public Affairs, and the Corporate Training Centre.
Our rapidly evolving operating environment creates challenges and opportunities independent of the business, which directly or indirectly affect our company. The role of the IPR unit is to turn intellectual property rights into business tools that support Orion's strategy.
