Data Engineer

We are seeking a (Senior) Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform that enables collecting, storing, and processing of large volumes of data. As a (Senior) Data Engineer, you will ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and useful, empowering various stakeholders and teams to leverage data for better decision-making, innovation, and operational efficiency. Your work will directly support the organization's data-driven initiatives, helping to unlock the full potential of data across different business functions.   

Your key tasks and responsibilities include: 

• Creating, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines that ingest, transform, and model data from multiple sources into the data platform for various business cases across the company.
• Working with modern tools such as Fabric Lakehouses, Notebooks, PySpark, and PySQL to enable seamless data integration and modelling.
• Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize data processing, storage, and delivery.
• Collaborating closely with business stakeholders to understand their goals and data needs, providing valuable data to support decision-making and organizational success.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Espoo, Tampere, Turku, Jyväskylä, or Oulu office (depending on your location). You will work in a flexible hybrid model with regular team meet-ups at your primary office location. You'll report to the Director, Data & Analytics and collaborate closely with colleagues across the Nordics, meaning that there might be some occasional traveling within the Nordic countries. We're looking for a data-driven professional ready to make an impact To succeed in this position, we are looking for someone with: 

• Working experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or a related role 
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines that ingest and transform data from diverse source systems (e.g., APIs, databases) across data platforms, with hands-on experience in PySpark and Python 
• Strong hands-on expertise in SQL for querying, analysing, and transforming large datasets efficiently 
• Deep experience in data modelling, designing scalable and maintainable models that support analytics, reporting, and downstream use cases 
• Ownership of end-to-end data initiatives, from design through deployment, prioritizing work effectively and making technical decisions that deliver business impact 
• Strong ability to partner closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to translate objectives into clear data requirements and deliver scalable, high-impact data solutions 
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence stakeholders 
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Experience mentoring others or establishing best practices is a plus 

Please note, that passing the standard security clearance vetting conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service is a requirement for employment in this position. The employer begins the security clearance process immediately after both parties have signed the employment contract.
