Finnish Meteorological Institute Researcher Job

The Finnish Meteorological Institute is a leading research and service institute that focuses on delivering high-quality data and findings on the atmosphere and seas. We use our expertise to promote public safety, enhance well-being, and provide services that support environmental sustainability.

We are currently seeking a researcher for a fixed-time contract to join our Marine Research Unit and contribute to the development of a coupled wave-ice-ocean model for the Baltic Sea using WAM and NEMO-LIM3 models.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Developing a coupled wave-ice-ocean model for the Baltic Sea based on WAM and NEMO-LIM3 models.
  • Working in the Operational Oceanography group with primary responsibilities in the CMEMS BAL MFC service.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in physical oceanography, meteorology, physics, or applied mathematics.
  • Strong background in physical oceanography and skilled at oceanographic modelling.
  • Good publication record and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to carry out independent research and work as part of a team.
