The Laboratory Assistant will play a pivotal role in our materials team, supporting the development and production of high-quality concrete mixes for our 3D printing processes. This involves preparing large quantities of dry batch mix, assisting in the creation of material formulations, reporting test results, quality control observations, and managing materials inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate actively in assisting the materials team with hand mixing, preparing test equipment, and performing tests
  • Carry out quality control and conduct testing of batch materials to ensure they meet specified standards and project requirements
  • Maintain and update the inventory of materials and tools, ensuring that equipment is well-maintained, clean, and in good working condition
  • Oversee the in-house batch-making process and ensure accurate mixing according to design requirements
  • Own the purchasing process for materials, ensuring timely procurement according to project needs
  • Collaborate closely with other team members, providing input on material requirements and mix designs, and maintaining accurate documentation of mix designs and quality control test results
  • Collaborate with the materials team to troubleshoot and optimize mix formulations
  • Maintain a safe working environment, following safety protocols for material handling, equipment usage, and laboratory maintenance
