We value our Fellows' individuality, with an inclusive environment where diversity drives innovation and growth. What makes you unique is what we value – be yourself, that is (y)our greatest asset. Founded in Finland, F‑Secure has offices in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.

-------

We're looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join our Technology unit's security team and help shape the security practices across our software development lifecycle.

In this role, you'll have a hands-on impact in implementing secure practices for software development and deployments, tool management and integrations, identifying and mitigating threat-based risks, and responding to the evolving needs of our organization. Your work will be essential in protecting our products and embedding security from design to deployment.

The security team works closely with our CISO office, bringing security standards (like ISO27001 and SOC2) and compliance requirements to life through tangible practices that our teams can integrate into their daily workflows. Reporting to the Head of Software Security, you'll be part of a small team of security professionals working in a hybrid setup (in Helsinki or Oulu area). The role combines technical guidance with practical security operations, ensuring security is part of everything we do, not just an afterthought.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tool Ownership and configuration: Own and manage security testing tools and other relevant security platforms provided to development teams.
  • Cloud security expertise: Bring strong cloud security knowledge to enhance our cloud-based systems' security posture.
  • Security engineering support: Serve as the go-to resource for development teams, helping them understand the relevance of specific vulnerabilities and guiding them in practical security solutions. Act as a bridge between our security and product teams, fostering a proactive security mindset throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Compliance application: Together with the security team, simplify compliance requirements (like ISO27001, SOC2) into manageable actions that develop metrics to support and measure our development practices.
  • Collaborative security education: Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure security is integrated at each stage of development. You'll lead training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, reinforcing security as a shared responsibility across the Technology function.
  • Incident response and monitoring: Support our development teams in security incident response by coordinating a model of swift actions and learning from each event. With developing continuous monitoring and alerting, you'll support early detection of vulnerabilities, strengthening our defenses.
Why you will thrive in this role

In this role, you'll be both a hands-on technical expert and a proactive partner within our Technology team. You'll drive a culture where security is integrated into every phase of development, empowering teams to build securely and confidently.

Serving as a crucial link towards our development teams, you'll transform compliance and security requirements into actionable, developer-friendly practices. Your collaborative approach will cultivate a security-conscious environment that positions security as a foundational element supporting innovation and resilience.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone with a strong background in security, though prior experience in the consumer cybersecurity industry is not a requirement. We value fresh perspectives and skills from diverse industries.

  • Experience: 3+ years in software security, with a strong grasp of secure development, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Technical expertise: Proficiency in secure coding practices, cloud security, vulnerability management, DAST/SAST/SCA tooling. General knowledge of SIEM, IDS/IPS, CI/CD pipelines and related security frameworks and technologies will also be useful.
  • AWS Security Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in AWS cloud security, with a strong understanding of AWS security features and best practices for securing cloud infrastructure.
  • Compliance knowledge: Understanding of security standards (ISO27001, OWASP ASVS, GDPR, SOC2) and experience in applying them within technical practices.
  • Programming and Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python or Bash to automate security processes, implement and configure integrations and data flows and perform advanced analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills: Proven experience in addressing security challenges and implementing secure practices within development teams.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Education: Bachelor's in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CSSLP, CEH) are a plus.
