Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland Wärtsilä Full time

We are now looking for a

Supplier Quality Engineer

to join our team working for a better future.

The position is permanent and the preferred location is Helsinki, Finland.

What you will be doing

Successful partnership is based on active communication of quality requirements supported by constructive dialogue in achieving them. We are now looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our experienced and dynamic team in Energy Supply and Optimization with background in inverter technology to support this goal.

In this role, you will be proactively improving the quality of Power Conversion Systems, consisting of inverter, transformer, MV switchgear, and their installation by processing data, driving discussions concerning root cause analysis, contributing to factory inspections and testing, supporting internal stakeholders in terms of quality, supporting audits, and visiting the suppliers in their premises when necessary.

As the Supplier Quality Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  1. To be skilled with people and able to flexibly communicate and adapt yourself in changing situations.
  2. A background in frequency converter technology and you understand how and where they are used and what is the basis of the technology.
  3. An understanding of the possibilities and threats of inverter manufacturing and power semiconductors as well as the field failures they are subjected to.
  4. An eye for details and your approach is data driven meaning that you are no stranger to collecting data and transferring it into a statistic which you can use for forming an objective evaluation of any situation.
  5. Communicate fluently in English and flexibly adopt yourself in changing situations even when the teams don't share the same perspective on things.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  1. Fluent English skills for exchanging information accurately.
  2. Excellent understanding of the manufacturing requirements of frequency converter technology.
  3. Excellent understanding of a Root Cause Analysis process.
  4. Excellent understanding of the failure mechanisms of frequency converters.
  5. Statistical skills to collect data from different systems, classify, categorize, and refine it to report the data in an understandable and concise form.
  6. Good social skills to communicate things to suppliers that sometimes aren't pleasant and the ability to work in a diplomatic and discrete way in situations where the interests of two parties are not the same.
  7. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and final testing for frequency converters.
  8. Knowledge from step-up transformers (LV/MV) (manufacturing, testing and failure mechanisms) as well as MV switchgears.
  9. Willingness to travel when necessary.

(In this role, some travel is required to meet with our suppliers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.)

Why you and us?

We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in that by being your own true self you can accomplish so much more.
