VISITING RESEARCHER/SCHOLAR IN AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ARTS, DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE
(unfunded position, researcher shall organise funding by him/herself)
Fruitful interaction between science, art, design, and architecture makes research carried out at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture highly versatile. The topics of research relate to the fields of art, design, media, and architecture with sustainable development as an all-encompassing theme.

The Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture offers a Visiting Researcher in ARTS position for postdoctoral Researchers and Doctoral Candidates. Please note that master level students are not accepted. The position is UNFUNDED and open to Researchers from all countries. Visiting Researchers should preferably secure funding for the duration of the visit before applying for this position. The Visiting Researcher in ARTS is for a full semester position or a full academic year. The applicant may indicate a particular time period of the visit and the starting date of the visit.
Academic CalendarAutumn term: 1.8. – 31.12.
Spring term: 1.1. – 31.7.
Summer break (summer schools/classes): June-August
Christmas break: mid December – mid January

Position ExpectationsThe Visiting Researcher in ARTS will be provided with working space, IT services, access to library services, opportunities to participate in the Department's and School of Arts, Design and Architecture's events, and interact with staff and other Researchers within the School. Additionally, they will be part of a larger research community of Aalto University. The school will help to arrange housing for the Visiting Researcher in ARTS.
The Visiting Researcher is expected to undertake research and publication in collaboration with the Department's personnel and conduct independent research. They are expected to prepare a lecture about the research topic within two weeks of arrival and may be asked to contribute to the teaching of the Department. The Visiting Researcher is also expected to participate in departmental meetings. They will have to sign an Academic Visitor contract with the School of Arts, Design and Architecture immediately after arrival in Finland.
