Job Title: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer

Location: Helsinki

Project Type: Data Center

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to the project's Safety Management System.
  • Comply with all relevant Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Support and implement site-specific Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.
  • Assist in the development of task-specific method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ensure compliance with the overall project execution plan.
  • Promote and maintain best practices in safety on-site.
  • Conduct and update ongoing COSHH assessments and manage control of hazardous substances.
  • Ensure safety interventions are carried out and properly recorded.
  • Perform regular site audits and inspections, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of statutory inspections for tools, plant, and project-related activities.
  • Take a proactive approach to project EHS requirements.
  • Work independently or collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Ensure that all subcontractors adhere to project and organisational EHS policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the coordination and maintenance of site inductions and EHS training.
  • Ensure availability and provision of appropriate PPE on site.
  • Prepare and deliver toolbox talks as required.
  • Support or lead accident investigations and ensure timely reporting and communication to project management.
  • Monitor and maintain welfare and hygiene facilities on-site.
  • Keep all documentation up to date and include relevant materials in the Safety File.
  • Participate in daily activity briefings and coordination meetings.
  • Support and maintain site waste reduction and recycling initiatives in line with project policies.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Level 8 degree qualification in Health & Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing EHS on large construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of current EHS legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Flexibility to adapt working hours or patterns when necessary.
  • Proven ability to manage all site EHS matters efficiently.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
