We are now looking for a Senior Manager, Transportation Safety and Logistics Sustainability for our client Kemira's global Operations unit. This role is preferably located in Kemira's headquarters Helsinki, Finland.

In this role, you will lead and shape Kemira's global logistics sustainability and transportation safety programs, guiding their development and execution. You will build these programs and drive projects forward in close collaboration with the team and regional SCM organizations.

This role is crucial in ensuring that Kemira's actions comply with regulations and sustainability targets while driving initiatives to enhance the safety, sustainability, and efficiency of Kemira's logistics operations. An important responsibility of this role is the successful leadership of the team in sustainability and safety topics.

In August 2024 Kemira announced changes to its operating model to better meet profitable growth ambitions. This open position is new and will be part of the new organization that has been operating since the beginning of the year.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and driving Kemira's global transportation safety practices and logistics sustainability operations to align with best practices, regulatory requirements, and internal policies, while managing associated legal and financial implications.
  • Guiding the development and implementation of Science-Based Targets initiative programs within logistics, supporting our greenhouse gas reduction targets.
  • Setting strategic medium- and long-term objectives within logistics sustainability and transportation safety, and driving their execution across the organization.
  • Acting as a key subject matter expert for transportation safety and logistics sustainability, providing insights to EHSQ Governance, internal audit planning, and other key stakeholders.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability in logistics operations.
  • Managing relationships with third-party logistics providers, ensuring adherence to our sustainability and safety standards.
  • Supporting organizational growth by overseeing resource planning, developing capabilities, and securing necessary resources for medium-term needs.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Proven track record of leading global sustainability or safety initiatives, particularly within logistics operations, with the ability to align strategic priorities and targets with sustainability and safety objectives.
  • Strong background in successfully leading projects and programs that drive results in safety and sustainability.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective sustainability and safety strategies that enhance operational performance.
  • Seasoned professional knowledge in logistics operations, sustainability practices, and safety standards in an industrial context.
  • Strong tactical leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams, demonstrating the ability to impact, influence, and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience encompassing a mix of tactical and operational roles within the logistics or industrial sectors.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with working proficiency in English.
  • Ability to navigate cultural differences and work effectively in a global environment, fostering collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field; other degree levels will be considered if equivalent competence is demonstrated.
