Mechanical Supervisor

Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Mechanical Supervisor / Commissioning Engineer.

What you will be doing:

Your main responsibility is to plan, lead, and manage the mechanical construction and commissioning works and team at the site. You should be comfortable in front of varying audiences and communicate naturally with different stakeholders, both internal and external.

Location: The position is located in Finland, Turku, but you will work abroad for longer periods, spending approximately 250-300 days abroad per year. Please note that relocation costs and/or immigration support are not available for this position.

The role:

• Plan, manage and lead mechanical installation and commissioning activities at the site.
• Lead the mechanical team at the site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and follow up on the progress of mechanical works at the site.
• Proactively manage the scope of work and material flow and secure needed resources.
• Manage and guide subcontractors.
• Plan and coordinate Last Planner System (LPS) activities with subcontractors and monitor the progress.
• Facilitate Root Cause Analyses and solve constraints of mechanical works.
• Follow and give input to the project time schedule.
• Maintain good customer relations and team spirit at the site.
• Highlight economical construction and cost-saving working procedures.
• Manage and maintain good reporting practices.
• Ensure that mechanical as-built drawings are completed and communicated.
• Safeguard compliance with HSSE policies and minimise risks in mechanical installations and commissioning.
• Coordinate construction and installation works in cooperation with Civil and Electrical disciplines following LPS methods.
• Ensure that design and installation instructions are followed.
• Arrange inspection of received material and goods at the site.
• Review invoices from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maintain records of change orders and claims.
• Organize and lead the mechanical weekly site meetings.
• Ensure quality control at the site.
• Advise and support the client in planning, organizing and execution of tests.
• Manage and plan safe inspections and test procedures.
• Instruct and advise supervisors and subcontractors to use accepted test and inspection methods and proper test equipment.
• Ensure testing of installed equipment and document test results.
• Manage punch list.
• Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the customer for taking over the plant.
